Pub Brewing at The Golden Lion (1947)

From the archives of British Pathé:

Excellent footage of proprietor and brewmaster Dick Olding brewing beer at the Golden Lion at Southwick, Hampshire in 1947.

We’re glad to see that they’re still going strong at The Golden Lion in 2016. A plaque hanging in the pub commemorates the use of the property as an officers mess during Operation Overlord; it notes that, “General Dwight D. Eisenhower drank half pints of bitter here whilst General Sir Bernard Montgomery confined himself to grapefruit juice.”
